Originally established by Jacques Fourneaux in 1743, Pierre Taittinger bought the House in 1932. Changing its name to Ets Taittinger Mailly & Cie, he took full advantage of economic conditions, buying top quality vineyards at a time when land was incredibly cheap. A period of phenomenal post-war success established Taittinger as one of the leading Champagne Houses, and today it is still a family concern, run by Claude Taittinger.
