Gosset Grande Réserve
Gosset Champagne
Hey, we’re loving the look of this bottle: a lovely shape, a draped gold foil top with nice details such as a ‘Gossett’ band beneath it. A nice completeness is going on here and opening it is like unwrapping a lovely present. Oh! A stunning capsule, two tone and very stylish.
What’s this on the label? "The oldest Champagne House in Ay, Champagne" Oh, get them! Since 1584 no less. It’s a piece of bloomin’ history this, let’s get it open quickly!
Mmmm, a lovely robust aroma streams out and suddenly, we feel like the Bisto kids. It’s toasty, vegetal, earthy, smokey and gingerish, all contained within a rich, gold liquid. Utterly delicious! This champagne is golden colour with a rich, mature nose producing toasty flavours on the palate.
It has a pleasing nose which is intense yet complex. Aromatic notes mixed with daffodil, linden flower and soft summer fruits of cherry, blackberry, on a backdrop of roasted scents.
Flavours of dried fig and stuffed cherries lead very quickly to grilled almonds and biscuit. A long and powerful flavour.
The toastiness carries through excellently in the taste with rich, honeyed tones to boot. It’s Christmas pudding, malted loaf and brandied fruit all in one. And how moresih! The finish leaves you with a clean, crystallised ginger hint that makes you unable to stop wanting another glassful.
