Moët & Chandon Millésime Blanc 1998 Champagne
Moet Millesime Vintage Champagne 1998
The Moet 1998 is a delight to sample. It’s smart black label, and black neck ribbon, both designed in the tradition of Moët's house style is a joy to behold and adds to the immeasurable surprise which is about to leap forth from the bottle.
This pale gold champagne has a sparkling mousse which lingers to the last glass, its mousse is persistent with fine bubbles that make the aroma and flavour come to life. A delightful floral aroma develops into a deep rosewater, and to say the flavour is toasty is an understatement.
This wonderful, creamy champagne begins with flavours of puffed wheat and brioche, then takes one into the realm of thick slabs of toast, made over an open fire, then slathered with the finest butter. Its depth of flavour is all enveloping, in fact, one of our tasters said it was like a ‘hug in a mug’, however, we do suspect they have been watching too many commercial breaks.
It has never been a better time to sample a Moet, and if you are lucky enough to come across the 1998, we urge you to get hold of as much as you can, you will not regret it. - KT
