Joseph Perrier Cuvée Royal Brut Rosé Champagne
Joseph Perrier Cuvee Rose - Pink Champagne
Lovely! Lovely! Lovely! A near perfect Champagne in every way, we really loved this one, we’ll come to why it narrowly missed the highest rating...
Its bottle is divine with a delicate pale pink label, reminiscent of Krug Rose in its decoration: pinky gold with a pretty floral border. And the capsule: it’s a keeper. It’s so lovely with its pinky, lilac colour, our nieces would love it!
We couldn’t wait to try it, JP is a big favourite at Libation HQ (other reviews are available) so here we go…Its colour is very strongly pink with a soft pink foam, really nice.
Aroma: oohh, robust! Just like a bouquet of roses, it’s so fragrant and floral, it makes you close your eyes and go ‘mmmmm’, you’ll see when you try it.
Let’s taste: Deep and fruity in the extreme, with immediate overtones of Chambourd, Cassis and Fraise. It’s so full bodied, you could call it Rubenesque and it’s so roasty toasty, it hits your tastebuds with a cashmere touch. Oops, it burst forth so gushingly, it soaked Percy the Libation cat. Tasting interrupted to go and find where she ran to and dry her off.
Excelntly well balanced acidity sits well with its medium mousse, “It’s like drinking a perfect Kir Royale” said one, and more, it’s rich and buttery and unctuous. To finish, you get a pop of blueberries.
Perfect... well, not quite, we had to mark it down as a tiny dry rough edge was cheekily in the background and we love it because of it. - KT
Champagne Grape Blend:25% Chardonnay, 75% Pinot Noir
Features:"A specially selected year of Cumiéres Rouge (12%) is added to an assemblage of Chardonnay and Pinot noir which gives this cuvée a subtle touch and selective colour and a full bodied champagne with elegance." - Joseph Perrier
