de Venoge Cordon Bleu Brut Sélect Champagne
de Venoge Champagne
Hey, this is a surprising Champagne, with a bottle that resembles a ‘man of the match’ presentation, we at Libation were set off imagining giving our speech of thanks at the big annual Champagne dinner, but then it descended into “I name this ship…” in queen-like voices… tut tut, she reads this site, don’t you know. Sorry Maam.
With its blue sash and nice mix of blue and gold, it’s definitely a boy’s bottle; maybe some embossing would be nice too? We’ll write and suggest it. Oh my and what a bright blue capsule! A lovely touch and the cork as a nice ‘de Venoge’ on both top and bottom.
Let’s pour…wow, very deep antique gold in colour with aromas of water biscuits, crackers, apples and blossom; very fresh with a potential to develop, so let’s see how it goes.
We tasted a biscuity note with a subtle creamy finish, quite herbal with a squeeze of lemon/pink grapefruit and gooseberry, a little sharpness and good old plum jam. And, as it progressed, yes, it got more and more toasty and everything got more amplified.
It has a very clean finish, not huge of mousse, but with enough flavour to keep you amused. We really enjoyed drinking this Champagne. - KT
Champagne Grape Blend:30% Chardonnay, 45% Pinot Noir, 25% Pinot Meunier
Features:"Cordon Bleu Brut can be drunk straight after purchase when it will be light and well-balanced, fresh and lively without any excessive acidity.
Some champagne lovers prefer to cellar it for up to 18 months when it will reveal different aromas. The range of flavours will increase and Cordon Bleu can then be matched with more sophisticated flavours." - de Venoge
