Vranken Pommery creates Diamant

Champagne producer Vranken Pommery Monopole has created Diamant, a “premium tier” to its portfolio.
The company, the world’s second-largest Champagne producer, said this week that the tier, named Diamant, would comprise four cuvées, including two vintage Champagnes - a rosé 1998 and a blanc 1999 - and a prestige cuvee.
The Champagnes will be made from only Chardonnay and Pinot Noir and will be aged for a minimum of three years to give a “complex, mature style”, Vranken Pommery added.
A spokeswoman for the company said that the Champagnes were “ideally suited to the demands of the prestige and fine dining sectors of the market”.
She added: “Diamant adds a new dimension to the portfolio as the dominance of Chardonnay in the blend gives a character to the wine that is different to that of Pommery and Heidsieck & Co. Monopole.”
